The nose on this wine is dark and brooding with notes of coriander, black cherry and jasmine. A plush palate lends itself to smooth tannins with savory spice notes throughout and a long, seamless finish.
Notes from Winemaker
The grapes were harvested on September 5th and 6th and 100% destemmed, then went through a four-day cold-soak prior to fermentation. Once dry, the grapes were gently pressed and put in barrel, where it stayed for 18 months in French oak (25% new). The wine was then racked and bottled unfiltered in February 2015.

“…has a savory edge to its crushed rock, dusty soil, dried cherry and raspberry-slanted bouquet. Showing more and more fruit with time in the glass, as well as the classic spice character of the region, this medium-bodied, supple, balanced and gorgeously pure Pinot can be enjoyed today. ” Jeb Dunnuck , 93 pts(Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, August 2015).
“The 2013 Pinot Noir Rita’s Crown Vineyard is rich, pliant Rita’s sensual from start to finish, with a classic expression of Sta. Rita Hills generosity wrapped around a mid-weight frame. Dark red cherry, plum, spice and violet meld into the supple, voluptuous finish.”
